The Unthinkable Has Happened

December 23rd 2010...

Mayor and council said Merry Christmas to the fire department by laying off (8) eight Firefighters.  This brings the total number of lost Firefighters to (11) eleven.  Your first line of fire protection has been cut a 1/3 with these lay offs.  With these lay offs comes a reduction in fire protection and safety.  Our members now are forced to operate with just (2) two Firefighters on an engine.

After the Firefighter Union agreed to ZERO pay increases and giving back over $500,000.00 in other concessions to save these jobs, the City refused to sign the deal.  This deal would have saved money for the City and the jobs of desperately needed Firefighters.
